Zeitco collector resources
Can a small UCO collector sell directly to a major refinery
Learn why direct refinery supply can be difficult for new UCO collectors and what to prepare before approaching a bulk buying partner.
Selling straight to a major energy company sounds attractive: find the end user and remove a step. But the closest route to the refinery is not always the easiest route to a workable sale.
Demand does not equal automatic supplier approval
Large renewable-fuel operations need suitable feedstock, and an individual supplier still has to meet the buyer's requirements. Neste describes careful supplier selection and traceability back to origin. Its supplier page also invites expressions of interest. It would be inaccurate to say a small collector can never apply or that every refinery has the same minimum.
The practical question is whether your business can meet the specific buyer's quality, documentation, delivery, and commercial requirements. A new route may have inconsistent inventory, limited storage, or no established sampling process. Each unresolved item can make a transaction harder to arrange.
Prepare a supplier summary
Write down where your oil originates, how you record collections, how much inventory is available, and what you expect to collect each month. Describe storage and loading arrangements. Separate measured quality results from estimates; unknown information is better identified honestly than presented as a specification you cannot support.
Ask the prospective buyer for its actual requirements. Do not purchase expensive equipment solely because someone informally says all refineries require it.
Compare payment timing as well as market access
Zeitco sends same-day wire transfers after weighing and testing are complete. For a collector funding each route from operating cash, payment timing can be as important as the headline oil price. Compare that benefit with the payment schedule in any refinery offer you receive. Refinery terms should be checked buyer by buyer and contract by contract.
Build a route to market as you grow
An intermediary relationship can be useful when it aligns your available supply with a workable destination and transportation plan. Evaluate that relationship on actual terms, rather than assuming every extra participant is unnecessary.
Zeitco is a buying conversation to start while you build your collection business. Tell the team what you have now and where you want the operation to go. Ask what would make your supply a fit today and what to prepare for future sales.
